Looking to experience something new in Chemnitz – but concerts are too crowded, you've already visited all the museums, and guided city tours never fit your schedule?
How about a self-guided discovery tour through a district of your choice in Chemnitz?
It’s easy with 39xChemnitz.
The 39xChemnitz project invites you to explore one of Chemnitz’s 39 neighborhoods.
Using a toolkit filled with questions, tasks, and thought-provoking prompts, you’ll be equipped to dive into a district of your choosing – all at your own pace.
How can you take part?
Interested in exploring one of the neighborhoods still missing from 39xChemnitz and becoming part of the project? No problem!
Pick up your toolkit – your guide to self-directed neighborhood discovery – at the Hartmannfabrik (Visitor and Information Center), Fabrikstraße 11.
The toolkit will lead you through the district of your choice with questions and prompts to guide your exploration. Use the included travel journal to record your thoughts, impressions, and experiences along the way.
What happens to what you record?
Send your experiences – including photos and stories from your neighborhood exploration – to the project team at [info@stadtkarte-chemnetz.de] or use the QR code in your travel journal.
All submissions will be used to create the alternative city guide 39xChemnitz.
This guide will be made available both in print and online for anyone interested.
With 39xChemnitz, the project team aims to leave exploration up to chance – encouraging spontaneous, unplanned strolls through the city.
You – and anyone who joins – can discover new perspectives on the everyday urban space.
